Touring the Riverina Cellar Doors with Children
Playground
Preschool and young primary school children will enjoy the playground at De Bortoli Wines. Set in the beautiful garden along the entrance to the cellar door, there is also plenty of room to play on the grass, shelter, and seating. The playground is not directly next to the cellar door but is a good place for a young family wanting to let the kids have some time to play pre or post a tasting. Note: sometimes the garden space is hired out for private functions but this is usually more on weekends for weddings and birthdays.
Activities
Calabria Wines has lawn games such as bocce, bean bag toss cornhole & giant jenga which the whole family can enjoy.
Berton Vineyards has a little colouring table and chair set, perfect for smaller kids to do whilst you do a tasting.
Facilities for Parents of Infants
Outdoor Areas
If you have older primary aged children who are happy to have a little space to throw a ball, play tag, do cartwheels, etc then our picks would be Yarran Wines, Calabria Family Wines and De Bortoli Wines. All have large grass areas next to their cellar doors that have shade and seating. The areas are not visible if you are inside doing a tasting though so it’s best to use their spaces afterward to enjoy a glass of wine and the food on offer* while the kids burn off some energy. *food options should be prebooked to avoid disappointment.
Kid-Friendly Food Options
De Bortoli Wines does have a range of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages available such as chips, chocolate bars, and soft drinks if you’re looking for a little treat.
None of our cellar doors have a restaurant or cafe but many of them do offer gourmet cheese and antipasto boards featuring local produce. Specific ingredients may change to feature seasonal products so best to confirm on booking what is included if you think it is something your child may also enjoy.
Have specific dietary needs for your family or friends? Please call ahead to discuss to avoid disappointment.
